Best tarp for bear mountain bridge hammock?

Just ordered my first hammock, the BMBH! Am debating between the Deluxe/Ultra Maccat or the JRB 11x10 Cat Tarp. One primary concern is the ability to set up the tarp using hiking poles should i go ground. Any thoughts?

Using one of the larger hex shaped tarps will work fine with the BMBH. You just have to be sure that the spreader bars get covered by the tarp otherwise you might get wet in a rain storm. Of your choices I would go with the JRB 11x10 Cat tarp after it is made by the people who also make the hammock.

I personally use a GargoyleGear Ogee tarp (11' model) and it works great and has kept me dry. It seems all of my hanging trips lately I always seem to get rain on a couple of the days of the trip.

    Cheers

alot of people use maccats but ive also heard sometimes a rectangle tarp is preferred with a bridge

I had the Dlx MacCat and the JRB, I def preferred the rectangular JRB on the BMBH

I ended up with a supper fly and pitch it wide so bars don't touch material of tarp.

I made my own 10x12 rectangle with 2 tieouts evenly spaced in the middle of the material on both sides of the centerline of the tarp. Usually I just hang it wide, but when I need to bring it in tight, I use those 4 extra tieouts to pull the tarp away from the spreaders. I'll try to find a pic of that particular deployment. Sort of like these, only a pure rectangle

and slightly wider spacing between the tieouts.
