The double layer doesn't add that much weight. You can cut down on the weight buy several oz by switching out whoopies for straps.

Does the double layer really provide much more warmth on its own?

Weight and size is a real concern. I use a small 28L pack and I imagine that the second layer adds considerably to the bulk.

I really like the sounds of all the benefits a DL provides, seeing as I do use a pad instead of an under quilt, but I have gotten by just fine in a considerably less comfortable skeeter-beater hammock, so I suppose I won't miss what I don't know.

Do the listed weights include the stuff sack and guy lines?

My WBBB DL 1.1 with stuff sack and whoopies weighs 20oz. Two tree straps are 4oz, so the site agrees with my measurements.

If as the site states, a DL is only 4oz more, no way I wouldn't spring for that.

Here's the DL BB w/o tree huggers alongside a .5L camelbak. Rough measurements say it would compress to somewhere around 2-2.5L

Some say I'm apathetic, but I don't care. - Randy

    that is compressed nicely
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

As for warmth, I can't give a head to head, but my double layer WBBB feels warmer by at least 5* than my single layer ENO.
