I have a whole bunch of ripstop nylon and am considering all the options that I can make with it and one thing that came into mind is a sleeping bag liner.
Has anyone ever done so? Or any thoughts on it, or other ideas?

i dont see a problem with it as long as its breathable it would keep your bag clean. but it might not feel as soft as your sleepingbag

Ya, that's kinda what I was thinking too - won't have a "silky smooth" texture to it, but a hellofalot cheaper that a silk liner.

I made a double layer ripstop top quilt/bag liner and used it for a couple weeks when it was real humid with a phoenix UQ underneath. The ripstop top quilt worked great on it's own, but it hasn't been cold enough to use it inside any kind of bag.
I just made more of a top quilt out of some uncoated ripstop with a single insultex layer inside. Took it out last night and slept pretty well in mid to high 40s...I was using a 3-Season Phoenix.
I did wake up a little damp, but it had rained most of the night, and so was very humid for the temperature.
I did something similar to this with some leftover polyester material I had on hand. It doubles for me as a liner for my sleeping bags and a cover for my summer fleece sleeping bag I use on short trips, helps immensely for holding heat in the wind.
