    8x8 big enough over a nano 7?

Would an 8x8 tarp pitched diagonally be big enough to cover a Grand Trunk Nano 7 if pitched real close to the hammock? I currently have a MacCat Deluxe and also a zpacks hammock tarp (zpacks measures a huge 12x8x7). The zpacks is cuben, and plenty light, but I'd like to get a smaller cuben tarp to cut down on bulk since bulk is often as important as weight for me. I'm 5ft 10 150 pounds, if that matters. If I knew I was in for some really nasty blowing rain, I'd bring the zpacks or the MacCat, and the zpacks with its doors is great in winter. But if I'm out for an overnight with decent weather predicted, could I get away with an 8x8?

I actually use a GT ATHH(all terrain hybrid hammock) as a tarp over my Nano7.

What are the dimensions of the GT ATHH when pitched?

Some magic math tells me this should give you approximately a 135" ridgeline which sound about right for lots of hammocks. I know JRB sells a 9'x9' thats perfect for lots of bigger rigs. Your 8'x8' should be fine, especially for good weather.

Jrb use to sell an 8' x 8' before my hammock time that was apparently all the rage, on pictures it was plenty large enough for any normal size hammock so I'm sure it would work fine. But the sides would still only minimally cover you.

You should check out sgt rocks 9' x 7' zpacks cuben tarp he uses with his nano 7. It seems plenty large enough, even pitched in a rectangle. He even has pictures with ends shut like doors. My math may be off, but you'd basically be taking away 1' x 8' and adding 1' x 7' so you'd actually save weight, only 1 square for of weight but it seems wayyy more versatiles than an 8x8 pitched diagnally. In rectangle mode you'd be using atleast two more stakes, but if weather is appropriate, you could get by with only 2 stakes for the 9' x 7' pitched as an asym diamond and still have the ability to have the max coverage as a rectangle.

The dimensions on the ATHH are 10'6"x6'. It works good for a minimal coverage tarp.
