Just got my top bag in the mail. Opened up the package and immediately started with surgery...
Cut a slit down the back to around 3 inches from where the footbag starts...heat-sealed the edges with a lighter...tied a knot to reinforce the slit, and heat-sealed the knot.
I let my girlfriend crawl in to test it out, and now I'm not sure I'll ever get it back it's so comfortable
I got mine and it is a great little bag! I performed the surgery on it, but wish I had left the area around the drawstring intact, and just cut the slit. I will probably sew back a few inches by drawstring - this will still allow easy entry while in the hammock but keep the sides snug around my shoulders.
If you threw in some down pants and a down hooded jacket you could prob pull b/t 5-10 degrees extra, and assuming a 35 rating which seems consistent from ppl that have had it that cold isnt bad, and would save you some additional surgery
Not much supply left for me to throw out this question:
Who among you have checked into converting these to a 20 degree underquilt?
40 inches of down-covered width. Check.
Rightl ength for full size UQ Check.
7-8 oz of down. Check.
I'm ordering mine tonight or tomorrow. I'll probably end up with one of the last 5 available. I don't really need it; I'm buying it solely for a DIY project. My plan is to put a #3.5 zipper in the footbox seam, add primaloft to the flaps after the back is cut open, and make this into a T/UQ.
Will it work? Certainly
Will it be easy? Probably not
