    Welcome to the HFs. Traditional hammocks usually use a spreader bar on each end. There is a greater chance of flipping. Gathered end hammocks are less likely to flip. Double layers on bottom allow for placing an insulated pad between the layers, so the pad won't slip as much.

    traditional hammocks dont have bars on them, i think your thinking of the bridge hammock. And on traditional hammock you lay vertically(say you had a ridge line on it, you and the ridge line would make a "corss") so its pretty impossible to fall out. I look forward to sleeping in a wbbb hammock tho.
