I'm feeling better. Lots of 800mg ibuprofen has eased the swelling.

It's more entertaining for the rest of us if we just give you a little info at a time. That way you get to make the same mistakes we did.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, men! I can't tell you the Brownie points I earn when I suggest to my wife that we make a run to Joann Fabrics. But I see such a suggestion in my day and reward from my Honey!

And, if I recall, I even asked at Joann for such a thing last year, and they looked at me like it was some man question. Can't wait to print out that Joann web page and slide it under their noses this time. LOL

Oh, the joy I get from Hammock Forums!

right source & needles, but wrong length

    Jaxhiker,
you have the right source for the knitting needles & they are hollow, but try the 8" length. You can make two grip fids from each needle. I have not found them @ Joann's or any source other than on line.
I've used sizes 4, 5 & 6 for 1.7mm to 1/4" Amsteel. Mostly 4 & 5. The cost is for a package of 5 (I think- could be 6) needles. So in theory you can make 10 gripfids from a package.

Well this is really strange. I swear I had posted another response from work but I don't see it.

Tonight I used new whoopies (I had to make more just because ) and finally swapped out the suspension on my Hennessy. I believe I am officially a monster.

make a great addition to your keychain. I put it around the ring & pulled the end all the way through the loop. The knotted end tends to stay close to the top of your pocket, making it easy to pull your keys out if you keep a ton of junk in your pocket (I have: 2 sets of keys, chapstick, zippo, 3 flash drives, and a Sog Flash I in my right pocket...)

I bought a Loop/ Tube Turner ordered online from Amazon just for the purpose of making/splicing whoopies and amsteel. Works so well one would swear it is purpose built for the task.

My suggestion to using it, the claw of the hook is held closed by a slight pressure on the outside rope to keep it closed as you pull it through.

I never got the hang of the loop turner. I use it on occasion but it tends to snag if you don't keep the pressure on the claw. I'm much better with floral wire for amsteel/dynaglide or guitar wire for mason line. Glad it's working for you, though!
