Was going to mention this to Rev, another one of those tips that I can't remember where I found it. When I read it the first time I thought about the corruated plastic roadside signs. Possibly a little more durable.

Old political campaign yard signs would be a source too. Good idea to go plastic. Could still wrap with duct tape but the tape would be removable for a second use if needed.

I use a freezer bag wrapped in duct tape for reinforcement. It seems to work well so far.

    Rei

If you are not into DIY, and are so disposed, REI has a stale bag for $5.50 and Y-stakes for $1.00 each.

We made up a bunch of bags this spring from dynema gridstop fabric in plans to send them out with the stakes we had on order that were supposed to get here months ago. Still waiting on the stakes and have a pile of bags sitting here.

I have a Crown bag and a Blanton's bag (which is brown), both of which I am not using. Could be persuaded to mail them to someone.

If I was going to buy new stakes, I'd buy these. They work well in dirt, snow, sand, and as a cat hole digger.
