You can use amsteel for the ridgeline, or go lighter with dyneema.

Oh yeah........going to REI tonight to pick the woman up a hammock! I'm afraid her setup may be a bit nicer than mine lol!

Hard to believe...at least she wants to hang! As for the ridgeline, while using amsteel blue is perfectly acceptable, it is a bit of overkill. Like rodwolfy said, you can lighten up a bit and go with a smaller dyneema line and still maintain the strength and lack of stretch needed. Many out there use Samson's Zing-It or Lash-It (even down to the 1.75mm), which can be found at larger marine shops. Much like Convert2010, I've had great success using the tech line from www.diygearsupply.com for my RL. See his post for a direct link. You'll have no problems finding the supplies for a tarp and/or UQ at Scott's site as well.

Thanks much. Will be looking for a Marine shop around to check some things out. I may just end up ordering the RL, although having a DIY one would be much more satisfying. You guys rock! Can't wait to hang tomorrow!!! I'll post a couple pics.
