I originally got started hammock camping when I was a scout. My older brother showed me how to set up my first rig ( a small net hammock and a blue utility tarp ). I stopped camping for a while till my son got involved in scouts and I found myself going back to the hammock when ever I could. I'm on my third hammock a ENO double nest with pro straps, a 10 x 10 urethane tarp and my last hammock as my gear sling ( a hammock bliss single ). Now that my boy is done with scouts I find myself with a lot of free time on my hands and I have a very strong need to get back on the trail and enjoy backpacking again. If anyone knows of some great backing trails in SC please let me know. As for now I'm planning a trip with some of my coworkers on the palmetto trail this September or October. Around the Lake Moultrie passage for some hang time.

Oh can anyone recommend some other web sites for hammock info? Thanks

HAHAHAHAHAHAhahaaaa true. I was just asking in general because i already subscribe heavily to Shug and Babel fish 5 on youtube oh and tinny..... and others i cant think of right now. Ive read SGT rocks hammock camping 101 and..... what I spending way to much time online. Man I need to get out more.

If anyone knows of some great backing trails in SC please let me know.

check out sctrails.net. it's a great resource for finding different trails in the state. there are so many different ways to break down what kind of trail you're looking for. I particularly like the trails in Sumter National Forest in Oconee County along the Chatooga River.
