I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone on this forum for their posting of ideas, knowledge, etc.
This seems to be a very open forum without much (if any) negativity on the subject. A FANTASTIC resource for us newbies.
I discovered hammock camping by accident while looking on youtube for some diy camping related stuff. Soon after watching a few videos, I became obsessed and I've since been scouting for various locations I'd like to camp, etc.
Camping with a hammock also allowed me to finally camp a location I had wanted to try for a couple years, but wasn't very practical for tenting (all bedrock).
Very excited!
The hammock I currently own is nothing more than a cheap $30 sil spear shaped hammock, but it works great! Goes to show you don't need to spend a lot of $$ to enjoy Hammock Camping. Actually, I've spent less on my entire "kit" than I had spent on my tent, air mattress, and such for tent camping!
