I have read a few things here and wanted to know where the best stiff here is for getting started, any help would be great.

Everyone will tell you to check out Shugs videos. It will help you get an understanding of what all this about. I am new to this too, but spent many hours reading this forum before I came across his why videos. They are a great place to start:

There are 10 parts, watch them all to get an understanding of it all.

Welcome aboard from Florida. Getting good advice already.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

The worst part about it is that you may have to watch the videos more than once to get all the info!!! J/K there is a lot of valuable info in them and they are a blast to watch. Raul Perez (WaterMonkey) also has some good info on hammocking and backpacking

Other than that make yourself at home, ask questions and read old posts, it really helped me out and I didn't waste too much money buying stuff that wasn't worth it.

Read....watch whoever's videos....but just get a hammock and hang it and start messing around with it.
That will get you there step by comfy step.

My vids have a lot of me goofing around as well as tons-o-hammock info.
The way I see it.....if I am gonna go through all the effort producing a vid and passing info that I spent many a fun hour doing and learning......you are gonna get a dose of me, myself and I indulging my whims!
Folks can always skip through and back and forth. You can do that on YouTube.
