She's such a cutie! I love seeing people taking their kids out to enjoy being outdoors. In this age of playstations and facebook, learning to love the outdoors at an early age it very important. Thanks for the pictures.

Don't let life get in the way of living.
Thanks for sharing!
Looks like folks left their trash and the animals got into it. Shame why some just don't "get it". But it was there for you to use the opportunity to teach your daughter a valuable lesson!
After hiking yesterday, we observed a camp where folks had done the same thing at the trail head. Makes me wonder how they live!
Pretty place and the water looked inviting. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the tour. Most of all thank you for showing our next generation the right way!
Awesome trip! I wish it weren't 20,000 degrees here so my son and I could be out.

Good for you teaching her to respect nature. When the family and I go out camping the first thing out of the vehicle is the trash bag and gloves. It never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate of wildlife, other people, safety or aesthetics some people can be?
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I try my best to instill common sense to my kids. It's amazing that even when you are in the middle of nowhere, trash is prevalent.
Even in the middle of the Mojave Desert or up in the mountains trash is just everywhere...what's worse is the graffiti. Ever seen graffiti on rock walls that would otherwise be a beautiful site? Common in the San Gabriel Mountains...it pisses me off because you can't paint over it...no choice but to leave it unfortunately.
Looks like you had to deal with some of the wreckage left behind by the hordes that flock to the lower Angeles on the Fourth. Unfortunately the rangers do not have the resources to deal with the mobs or their mess - it would be nice if they could ticket all the offenders, but they can't.
In due time your little girl (she is darling) will be old enough to join you hiking. The people that feel it is their right to go into the Angeles and strew trash around the parking lots and along the river seldom actually hike into the forest.
Yes, there's still some trash even in remote areas (my pet peeve is water bottles - you'd think hikers would know better!,) but it is only occasional in the wilderness areas - not so in the lower Angeles.
Thanks for sharing. I think it is really important to give our kids opportunities to get out and go hiking and backpacking. My daughter is 9 and earlier this month we did a hiker feed at Pine Grove Furnace SP on the AT. I pitched the hammock, showed her how to hang a bear bag, and she had some time to just hang out in the hammock and relax She wants to go on a trip with me this fall and I’m going to do my best to work out the logistics for a simple overnight with a few good views.
Peace,
Gris
Magnus, thanks for sharing this and inspiring me on an upcoming trip with my little one in Sept. I'll post my pics, too. It's great to see the little ones out there. And thank you for teaching her the value of cleaning up where others did not.
