My cat likes to lounge with me in my Grand Trunk Ultralight on the patio. She usually stays on me and doesn't touch the hammock fabric. If she does, I just gently move her to a less potentially damaging position.

+1 My 2 cats want nothing to do with either of my hammocks solo. BUT they love the tie-outs hanging off the Blackbird.

    What if....

What if one wanted to diy a home hammock to share with the kitties, anticipating some feline type damage. What fabric would hold up to that, and not fail at 3am?

My black cat loves the Black Bird! He is only de-clawed in the front, I just make sure that he lays on top of me, or I spread out a TQ or something similar. If I get in the WBBB in the back yard, he comes along and meows till I let him in.
Its a proven fact that 78.4% of all statstics are made up on the spot.

Our oldest cat Alex likes to jump in with me when I hang in the back yard. Not too bad during an afternoon nap but he's usually in and out of the hammock several times if I stay out overnight. No problems during cooler months when there are no skeeters but I worry abut him tearing bugnets during warmer months so I try to leave him inside when I head outside...

Both of my cats sleep in my hammock with me every night, one only lays on top of me, the other, he's all over the place, even sleeps in there by himself (he's the one in the picture with me). Sometimes I think he wakes me up so he can have it for himself. He's not declawed, the other one is, never had a problem with them poking holes in it, I just make sure I keep blankets in there at all times.

Probably the toughest rip-stop you can find or maybe even Kevlar (http://www.jamestowndistributors.com...part=4201&BASE)?...

Those claws can do damage to most any fabric though. Kitty does not even have to try.

No matter what fabric you chose for this you will need to do frequent inspections.

Mine sleeps under the hammock whether hung inside or in the yard. She does not like being in it with me. She loves playing with tarp guylines during setup and takedown though.

I sleep in a hammock every night and have since 2007. I don't think there has been a single night that I didn't have a cat in the hammock with me (indoors). My cat that died not too long ago used to stand next to the hammock and yell at me until I got in. She didn't like being disturbed by me getting in the hammock so she would wait until I got settled...but not quietly.
    Trust nobody!
