    Mug slingin'

I've had this DIY project in my head for awhile, but now I've discovered it already exists: mugslinger.jpg I was thinking of hanging a DIY version of this from my ridge line. I would just like to set my coffee mug down for a second (inside my bug net) so I can adjust my top quilt or pick up a book.

Is this a recipe for disaster? Has anyone ever done this before? What are your thoughts? Don't be shy! (like you guys are ever shy! )

It would be for me ... a disaster that is!

Pips, I have used these on boats before, the only issues that you may see is rapid up-down movement (hitting waves). As long as your not bouncing in the mock, you should be good! 'specially if you have a closing sip lid.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

I was thinking about making the same type of thing when I was on the trail last weekend....but after I kept hitting my head on anything that I had hanging from my RL...I thought better of it. I don't want hot coffee on my and my stuff!

I can't drink anything lying down - especially anything hot.
I would have to use a sippy cup.

I think a closeable lid would be needed. That being said a regular travel mug and a carabiner clipping the travel mug to the ridgeline would work well.
Trying to drink anything while laying back in the hammock is tricky, and usually results in me dribbling.

Now a coffee cup with a sippy tube....

how about just hanging a water bladder(a small one less than 24oz) with a water tube from the RL.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Not a bad idea. But it won't keep your coffee hot
