Made a video for my daughter

Hi Everyone. I made another DIY hammock/bugnet tarp setup for a daughter who lives in England. She is going to Scotland in a few weeks, and this will be her shelter while there. I thought I would ask you if you think she will understand my directions in the video I made for her. Input appreciated on anything else I should tell her. Thanks.

Great vid and a very sweet thing to do for your daughter. A few things... is she familiar with setting up a hammock whatsoever or is this her first time? You did a great vid but we all know there is a learning curve to this whole hammock thing. Your particular rig is nice and she should enjoy. Next, have you considered making a Bishop Bag for the hammock so it can be deployed easier for her? Also, how about snake skins? You've got a lot of tie out points (5 on each side I believe you said) and there's a lot of rope to go around. My thought was that snake skins might make it a little less daunting. Again, great vid and I'm sure she'll enjoy her Dad's DIY.

    Hi fella,

That's an excellent thing to do! Great looking piece of kit and I'm sure she will appreciate it. Take it from me that it knocks the crap out of most set ups you see over here.

I like the video too - it's not difficult to follow and covers everything, and best of all it's done by her Dad...

    Thanks for sharing,

Well thanks guys. It is boxed up and hits the post office in the am to get there on time, so adding snake skins and a bishop bag arent in the plans....sounds like I need to read up on here about these options though. I made my video wearing the I cam sunglasses(i think that is what they are called). Pretty decent video and a way to capture outdoor moments.

Good stuff - I did wonder if you strapped your camera to your head!

Let us know how she gets on with it...

Thanks again! It went in the mail today. Cost was $50 for shipping with an insured value of $300. I hope she takes some good pics of my creation being used in Scotland, and I hope she appreciates the long hours and expense it cost the ole man.

Nice job. Great video HCH. I do agree with Syb...the whole snakeskins seemingly less daunting. But either way, with that video, she'll understand. Kudos! I bet she will appreciate it when she realizes how comfy she is right before she starts snoozing away.

Thanks! These are labor intensive, but like I told her, if she takes care of it, it will last a lifetime.
