Looking forward to sharing a campfire with you again this summer Big D.
===================
Just wanted to reconfirm this scout trip plan.
Spoke with food, he and I will be at the Kelly Dahl gate at 10am Saturday.
Up for the day or over night your choice.
We'll do all our exploring/scouting Saturday so if you'd like to just come up for the day to checkout these areas with us we'd love to have you.
The current plan is to have lunch at Branard Lake so bring a day pack.
Overnighters- 5 day forecast has Sat Partly cloudy 70's/40's with no rain.
We could have some wind so pack accordingly.
O&B and All,
I look forward to seeing you at Kelly Dahl Saturday morning.

I just made reservations for July 6 & 7 at Kelly-Dahl campground in Roosevelt National Forest for campsite 41. The companion campsites for the hang are 38 & 39. OutandBack will be reserving one when he returns. The Forest Service wants the primary occupant to reserve, so I could not make all the reservations.

I need you to confirm in the next week that you will be hiking. I would like to open some slots if your schedule has changed.

I just reserved site 39 for 2 nights(Fri Sat) for up to 8 hammocks.
Here is a link to the pictures I took on our scouting trip.

IMO Kelly Dahl campground is much more hammock friendly with good strong tree's at the right spacing.
The 3 sites we selected(41,39,38) border the Nat Forest so we can move in as deep as we would like to get away from the noise of your typical CG in the summer.
Site 41 has a large flat area around the picnic table which would make for a great general hang out spot to plant your camp chair.
From what I could tell I don't think the new Branard CG will be open
construction is still under way and the trees are far too dense.
I included a couple picture in the report to show you the tree density.
Do to dryer than normal winter we already have a fire ban in effect so food and I went into Nederland for a couple beers instead of having an evening fire.
This is a great little mtn town with cool shops a couple bars with live music every evenings.
If we still have a fire ban in effect this summer I would like to suggest we
replace our sit around the fire time with a trip into Nederland (10 minute drive) for some live music a cold beer or two.
If you have any questions about the pictures or area please ask away.

Hi guys,
Thanks food and OutandBack for checking out our meeting site. I have reserved site #38 for 7/06 and 7/07 @ Kelly Dahl CG, so we should be in good shape for trees/space. Looking forward to hanging out with you all again this summer. food, god willing and the creek doesn't rise (too high) I plan on sharing the north loop with you and the rest of the gang.

Hi ferret, Do you need a place to stay the night of the 5th(Thursday)?
Also, If you'd like to save some mileage on your rental car you are welcome to park it at my place and ride up with me Friday.
Thank you Jim for reserving site 38 It is the best one. Food and I saved it for you, I think you will like it, it is where I slept last night, Wonderful spot.
I envy you guys fit enough to tackle the North Loop.
You are in for a real treat.
While you guys are making the assault on this pass.
The rest of us will be hanging here with a cooler full of cold beer and fishing poles in hand.
Looking up every now and then asking,
I wonder if they made it over yet?

I'm still in.
How many can hang at each campsite? Is the 3 we have enough?
It's exciting to see pics of where we will be. So looking forward to it.
We can have 8 hangers per site(24 total).
1-2 cars per site so we will have to park a few in other locations nearby like last time.
Glad you liked the photos.
I would post picts of my trip on the north loop. Remember 110 film cameras?
That's what I was using back then, haha my age is showing.
So that part of the trip will have to be a secret only you guys will get to see until your trip report pictures are posted. Can't wait.
