Yes, I applied for a small group permit because there are some places above 11,000 ft that hammock trees become a little scarce. I would help a peson to get the necessary permits to do a clockwise north loop. I am doing a two night scout trip the week before the hike. The second leader would have very current information on the conditions.

I wont have enough vacation to do the loop hike during the beginning of the week so you can count me out of that one I will however be able to camp Sunday night as well so any recommendations of a good place for a 1-3mi hike in to hang for the night between Kelly Dahl and the Springs? I know yall have the group permit but would i be able to hike in myself and hang separate from the group and not be counted in the group. Not trying to bend the rules just trying to get every ounce of enjoyment out of my weekend
A couple of weeks too late for me. I'll be parked in Evergreen, CO, in June for the week of the 20th. Mrs. Moment has an Oil Painters of America gig to attend and I get to chauffeur the RV. Bringing the hammock and fly rod in the unlikely event I get bored with doing nothing and decide to wander off for a few days on foot. Any directional hints are appreciated. No stranger to mountain hiking.

Thank you for letting us know sooner rather than later that you can't do the North loop hike. It might allow someones else to plan to make this trip.
As for a Sunday hike suggestion.
You could hike from Branard Lake to Left Hand Res and hang with us. It's a pretty nice trail well marked.
As I remember the first several miles of the N loop is just thick tree's. Not much to see until you get above treeline and look back towards Branard.

O&B, you have to remember I am a southern boy so thick trees get me excited
Guys/Gals planning to fly fish please print this map out for your pack.
From Brainard lake to Blue Lake (on the Blue Lake Trail) we will try to hit all these lakes and connecting streams.
The Blue Lake Trail is also the planned Day Hike/ trail lunch / fish scouting trip I was going to lead on Saturday.

76 days and counting.
I know some HF members are on the fence whether to make this Group Hang since the North Loop hike has pretty much filled and might be thinking
the fishing / hang @ Left Hand Res might not be as fun. I hope to try and change their mind.
You can do this hike on Saturday.
During the car camping at Kelly Dahl I'm offering to lead a day hike with lunch on the trail.
IMO(not being a long distance hiker anymore) this is the coolest/best hike in the area. I've never fished this area
I'm always too busy with my camera.
I think Left Hand will have the best fishing. My mouth is watering just thinking about fresh caught/ fresh fried trout, yum yum
All that said, I wish all of us could do both since the company I hang with is 80% of this trip for me.

+1 on the company is a large part of the experience. Such a great group last year, with a few significant exceptions like waddy and that crazy Texas housier who almost got me arrested. Looking forward to meeting this year's collection of hangers.

So far, it seems like only 3 have committed to the North Loop, but food would know the true count.

With the natural beauty of this area and your attention to detail, no doubt you will succeed.
