Greetings from Ft. Worth, TX!

Gotta love Texas! My dad actually lives in fort worth and ill visit him fairly often, maybe we can hang together some time! As far as places to go, im just getting into hanging myself so im not sure on the actual hanging a hammock part but we really liked camping at lake mineral wells state park. Havent been there in a while but i remember it being fairly nice. Anyway, from one newb to another, Welcome! and start reading, there is a lot to learn from the fart smellers... smart fellers on HF! I find something new and interesting every day!

Welcome from Florida! Definitely follow UncleMJM's lead and attend the big hang in Fairfield Lake. I went last year and it was great fun!

We used to live in Keller area. We moved to east Texas 4 years ago. Looking forward to the Fairfield lake hang.

Welcome from another DFW hanger. A good starting point for you would be Cedar Hill State Park. It's close and has several good hanging spots. From the check-in office go to the 4-way stop and turn right and keep on going to the very back of the park. You will find several good spots to hang there. If you turn left you will run into the close lake camping where the loud party people like to be. If you go straight ahead you will wind up at the public boat ramp.

I tried Lake Mineral Wells a year or so ago. Bad experience for a hammocker. The park itself is nice, but the head ranger had determined that NOTHING was to be hung from the trees. I spent a very uncomfortable night on the ground.

Fairfield lake is a good place to hang. Plan on making the group hang there in November.

If you backpack at all, get up to the Cross Timbers Trail on Lake Texoma. LOTS of trees and a nice lake to cool off in. One of my favorite spots fairly close to home. Cleburne State Park is hanger friendly as well (at least it was last December).

Looks like a good place to hike and camp....might have to have a spring hang up there.
