First real trip, 7 nights in northern Ontario.

I just got back from a fishing trip to Prairie Bee Lake, between Wawa, and Chapleau, Ontario. My HH Explorer UL performed great. I slept better than I have in years. I slept later than the 9 guys in the cramped cabin, they had to wake me up every morning. I stayed dry and comfortable through a thunderstorm, (never woke up) temps at night varied from windy in the mid 40s- calm and lower 60s. I slept in a REI sub Kilo 20 degree bag, on a thermarest trail-lite pad. Though comfortable, I'll be upgrading to an UQ, since it was a pain to get into the bag, and onto the pad.

I used the stock sil-nylon tarp, with a paracord ridgeline, attached to trees with figure 9s. Hammock was hung with the stock suspension, once setup, it required no adjustment for 7 days. Mosquitos were the worst I'd ever seen, I had to put my headphones on to cover up the loud buzzing outside the hammock! No bites through the hammock, or mesh. (I did treat everything with permethrin)

I can't wait to get back out there and hang again, this time will be just a short solo overnighter(or two)

Thanks the trip was awesome. The watch is a Marathon GSAR. It is built like a **** tank!

We cleaned up on the Smallmouth, Walleye, and Pike. We got to the point of just skipping the pike for food, as they took too long to clean. Be did beer batter, blackened on the grill, and more beer batter. We ate really well. The one bad thing about a good vacation, is having to go back to work. It's in the 90s humid, and I work outside.

Nice trip report. I had the same experience with skeeters too. Except, I got one bite thru the side of my WBBB where it is only one layer.

Yup, it was great! I think some of the guys in the cabin were jealous. They looked a bit haggard from lack of sleep late in the week!
You guys have some serious mosquitos up there. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I mastered getting into the hammock as fast as humanly possible.

I have heard from some people that the bugs are out later and thicker this year. Good thing to did the permethrin. Did you do your clothes as well?
