With the addition of the sail, we dubbed her “The Wondering Trollop” (proper maritime fashion?).

We found a broken fishing pole on the site and lashed it to the front handle of the Kayak. Dant8ro donated a 5x8 poly tarp to the cause, we grip clipped the top center (8’ side) to the to the top of the pole and added guy lines down to the deck to keep it from flipping over the front making it unreachable from the cockpit. The bottom center of the tarp was also tied to the front kayak handle and we added left and right lines (utility rope) to hold the sail open and thought that it would facilitate steering...that didn’t work, the kayak went wherever it wanted (hence “The Wondering Trollop”). Later, we used the paddle to hold the Sail open and steered the boat with a hand in the water.

    Although, I don't think you've posted a bad one.

Is that a Lazy Ryvr Bridge that DeadEye was using for this trip? I would have thought that he would have exchanged that amber coloured tarp for the grey one on already. ;-)

I will agree that heading North of Algonquin for a 1 night outing is really pushing the limits, but a tiring trip to the woods is way better than a day at the office.

    Cheers

Yes an Orange Tarp is preferred by most hunters....camo really isnt a great idea during hunting season... Deer and Moose don't recognize orange - but a guy with a .30-30 whose's doing a hunt in the area will recognize that an orange tarp just doesnt belong in the picture :-) Also - safety first when you go into the real back woods its a good idea to have something that can be seen in case you are in trouble - a grey tarp is hard to see by SAR.

As for the Bridge - I prefer it but need it to be wider. Thanks Ryvr for the use of your hammock!

When your making sails from stuff you find on the beach, its always wise to get advice from Wilson!

Np I'd be happy to give yourself or Tim the measurements for the Bridge but as for the width, it will be somewhat dependent on the length of ur spreader bars.

If your feeling the pinch at the waist im not sure how that could be remedied other then a deeper cut on the sides. At the shoulders I might go with longer spreader bars. Although I dont know how much of a difference that will make for you.

Glad you had fun the trip looked great. Very sorry I missed it.

    Ryvr

Hey Ryvr; yes the pinching is at the shoulders not the waist so the bars will need to be wider for me, but if I eat any more Wellington Weiners I'll have to work on the waist as well!! You missed our glutony - steak, grilled veggies, roast potatoes AND then there was dessert too!! Poor Dan8ato and [O]TTer I force fed them - eat eat ....would monsieur like another mint...
