    Overnight Hang on Long Lake

2011 has been a busy year trip wise, just passed the halfway point and I’ve run out of vacation time , booked the last day for the upcoming EGL Fall Hang/Paddle trip. If it wasn’t for that annoying "Paying the Bills" thing, I'd lose the job and take up Hanging full time. Or... we could try implementing in-Hammock Bluetooth / long range WiFi (lots of antennas in Pringles cans) and "Work from ham... Home" full time, everything is better with Bluetooth!

Now reduced to overnight trips, we took off for Long Lake early Saturday morning planning to make the most of the weekend but found that one night definitely wasn’t enough for this venue; a return to the lake is on my 4-day list for next year. A cap-in-hand thanks to Dead Eye (great spot, the new ATV kicks a... Mate!) & Dant8ro for another successful campaign in the books, I had a blast!

Which Long Lake would this be? According to a quick Google search, there are about 65 lakes with that name in Ontario (not really sure how that's possible but...why not?)

Its just North of Algonquin off of an abondoned Logging road (term "road" used loosely), access is very difficult without an ATV, it would be a great spot for a group hang if it wasnt in the middle of nowhere!

Making a Sail out of a busted fishing pole, utiliy line and an a cheap trap, wasn't a bad way to spend the afternoon, there are some things we simply, never grow out of ! Worked in theroy but would have been better with more wind or a fixed mast.

Much appreciated - thanks. Heading out most likely to Algonquin for a 30 odd km loop hopefully (fingers crossed -hopefully) in August. Just wondered if this might be a place I could sneak out to or too out of the way.

Great trip - a magical place with fun times around the camp fire - we were lucky to have a clear night with an incredible moon!! We will have to post those ones too!! The location is very difficult to get to and very difficult to describe and you really need to know where you are going or you will end up lost in 1,000,000 acres of northern Ontario forests....plus the name Long lake is probably a local name - not an official name we've just called it that for the last 20 years.

Kayaks , hammocks, and the woods equals a good time.

    Great Phots, [o]TTeR.

    Although, I don't think you've posted a bad one.

Is that a Lazy Ryvr Bridge that DeadEye was using for this trip? I would have thought that he would have exchanged that amber coloured tarp for the grey one on already. ;-)

I will agree that heading North of Algonquin for a 1 night outing is really pushing the limits, but a tiring trip to the woods is way better than a day at the office.

    Cheers

    Brian

That is the Lazy Ryvr and we'll need to DIY another one before the Fall Hang, seems he's happier in a bridge then a gathered end.

Sticking to the amber, Dead Eye hunts and I've been informed that bright orange is the preferred colour for those, that do not wish to get accidently shot when snoozing in the forest ? Apparently there are times when "stealth" is not a good thing?
