Hi guys. Am finishing my first down underquilt and have a question regarding hemming the edges. Would it be enough to sew the edges and burn them then put grosgrain on or should i hem them then put the grosgrain on???
I am using 1.1 oz and "800" fill down.

Personally, I don't put any grosgrain on at all. I just run the shock cord through the hems in the nylon.

I sew it with a streight stich. Then go back abd do a rolled edge so the exposed edge is hidden.
I don't see any benefit to grosgrain in terms of an underquilt. That said I would suggest at least a folded hem narrow enough to be covered by the grosgrain. Personally I would likely just do a rolled hem and let it go at that unless I wanted a channel for suspension cording. Then I would drop the grosgrain idea altogether and finish off with a channel style hem.

On the edge of mine I've made a small hem (1/4 wide) that can be easily concealed by the grosgain I will put over it. I like the grosgain because it helps me get a professional, neat finish.
