Tips for 1st time with the wife

I'm taking my wife on a 2 niter, which will be her first time hammocking in the woods. We've car camped before together, but never backpacked together and she's only been in a tent on an air mattress. Any tips for helping her love it? I figure wine is a good start, plus letting her ride in my WBBB instead of my GT UL..... I'll carry just about anything needed to make it work, so don't fret about that.

Good call in putting her in what soon will be your former, now her, WBBB.

The biggest thing I can think of is keeping her comfortable and that means if the temps are below 70, have some kind of bottom insulation for her.

The best advice I was given was to let the wife set the pace while hiking. Have her walk in font of you so she does not always feel like she is trying to keep up with you. Also I let my wife relax in the woods and I do all the camp chores, ie. filter water, cook food, clean up, set up both her hammock and tarp. I do all the dirty work so she can enjoy the woods. She has enjoyed the trips we have gone on so far and we are going on another one Labor Day weekend. I keep the hikes short and make being out in the woods about us spending time together not how many mile we can hike each day.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

    +1

I agree with all of the other helpful comments too on pacing, camp chores, and menu.

My wife also likes hanging from the same trees or a three tree set up. Hang close.

Maybe a one nighter at first.

    Low milage hiking.

Stay close to the car - perhaps a lunch or dinner in town.

Keep her pack light and make sure she's wearing comfy shoes/boots.

    M&M's.

Something to sit on other than a log or the ground.

    Campfire.

I was really expecting a newlywed thread. Glad I read before I posted something about peanut butter and honey.
