Thanks guys. lol I actually had a paypal shopping cart full there yesterday but I wanted to ask about any other sources. After it is all said and done I come in at $65 ish in supplies and that doesn't include what I already have.

At that price I could bag lunch for a couple weeks and get a Wilderness logics tad pole for $80. I am kind of torn, I love diy projects but I have some other things I want to work on for my hang system and a diy mtb headlamp to finish before night riding season ;-), to many hobbies.

I had a set of cateyes daylights when I was in japan. On a Giant Cadex. Man I miss that setup. Blasting down those mountains at night was a trip. Kinda off subject... sorry.

Of course it's up to you. Making gear sure is a lot of fun though... and using gear you made sure is a satisfying feeling... lol

    Guess i'm SCPatrick ;-)

I here you man. For some reason this diy project is making me nervous. I have already made an hammock, UQ and a small square tarp but the sheer size and the cat cuts and such have me hesitating. I need to just bite the bullet and get to ordering supplies. I think if I cut the size of the tarp by a bit I can get better coverage than the tad pole and at about half price.

If it's any comfort to you, I have only helped with a DIY tarp and I have yet to try the whole thing myself -- although do I keep the materials at the ready for when I feel like tackling it... one of these days, maybe soon.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger. I am going to make a Black Cat style tarp but a bit shorter. 10'x 7.5 - 8'.
