    7D fabric

Just curious if anyone has laid hands on or played with this 7D*10D fabric from titaniumgoat?

    7D

Yes. I just finished a top quilt using this fabric. It's a sewn-thru Karo Step quilt made for the warmer months ~40 degrees. Final weight was 12 oz including the 7 oz of 900fp down.

I was shooting for 11oz, but being fairly tall makes it tough.

How's it feel? Think you could make a hammock with it?
Well I suppose that is a silly question. I'm sure one could be made, the question should be, will it hold? There seems to be a fair number of larger people that use 1.1oz/yd...

I'm just curious. Maybe not $22/yd curious. But curious.

You would have to be a pretty small guy. It's very, very thin and you can definitely feel that when you work with it. Stretch would of course be an issue for a normal size person, but I also doubt it would be durable enough to last very long. M90 would be a better candidate if you were looking for something lighter than 30D nylon. Or maybe even some of the light silks.

PS - When I say a small guy, I mean flyweight. Like 130-140 lbs.

i wouldn't recommend it, i've not seen this particular fabric, but i've looked at several 5d fabrics. the tear strength is signifigantly less than 30d (go figure)...ok for a quilt but not a hammock

If you're less than 200 lbs you could DIY a cuben hammock from the .74oz version. I had one for several months with no problems, but was very careful with it though.

I'm a heavyweight packer with lightweight dreams. I'm probably pretty lightweight on practical sense too.
