    Tooooo Hot to Hammock

OK maybe I'm just spoiled rotten from the nice chill A/C, but in this weather when I go fishing (if I go) the heat even at night makes it very uncomfortable to sleep in the hammock with the bugnetting closed over head (keeps in too much heat) Bugs or heat? SO I was wondering what unique methods some of y'all might have for keeping cool (besides jumping in the lake every hour) that actually works when it's sissiling hot out ????

Send some heat this way...we've just got rain. I've even noticed a trend with other Canadian hangers starting to think and prepare for cold weather hanging already. Afterall, we could have snow here in about 60 days!!

It's too hot for anything right now. I hung out in my new blackbird last night and was sweated down within minutes. Wait till fall. No point in making your hammock smell like a turd.

You're hammock camping while fishing and haven't figured this out yet?

    Kidding, of course.

Here is my solution for the heat and you can't do it in a tent or on the ground. Hang above the river/stream/creek. Seriously. Find a narrow part of the river and then start looking for trees on opposite banks that are close enough to tie onto. Generally speaking, it isn't difficult at all to find appropriate trees. The cool air coming off a body of moving water is a wonderful thing during those brutal hot evenings. The sound of the moving water lulls you right to sleep and you'll not wake-up hot. I used this method as much as possible when I was hiking on the East Coast during the hot months. Saved my sanity more than once.

8 inch battery powered fan. I hang it about a foot from my face on the ridgeline. Just spent 4 nights in July in Alabama in the hammock. It keeps me very cool. Bought it from Walmart

But be careful of the midnight bladder trips. Unless you have a Hennessy, then just use your imagination.

If you use a tarp for sun protection, just make sure its really high so it doesn't hold in heat. Also, try to hang in an area that will get some breeze to keep you cool- if you can't hang right over the water.
