Just a heads up..I was doing some research looking for rip stop and Jo Annes is having a 40% off sale. Makes it less than 5 bucks a yard. Wife is headed off to Sherman to get me some. I would go but it figures that I am on call this weekend.

Thanks for the heads up, now I guess I need to figure up how many yards it takes to do a cheap hammock
The actual unhemmed fabric length on my DIY's is either 10 ft or 9 ft. 9 foot makes a short hammock, that most people would not enjoy.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.
I am 5' 10", so I guess I would need a 10 foot hammock. Never have sewn before, would that mean i need 4 yards ?
its always either 40 or 50 percent off at joanns.
I know that you are saying 10ft for a person 5 10", does this also include the material needed to hem the hammock, and is this for a gathered end or would I figure about 6 inches for a channel end added to the 10 ft. Thanks for the reply and previous info.
Well I bought 4 yards for a hammock, thinking about goin back and buying more while it's on sale, for stuff sacks and any other thing i can think of to sew.
This site is creating a monster. Fixing to learn how to make whoopie slings and other knot things.
Oh yea, I bought TN Orange for a hammock
Really? I have bought in my store 5 or 6 times in the past few weeks, and they always have a coupon at the register. And she said itll pretty much always have either a 50 or 40 percent off coupon.
