It's always best if your an early riser!
You can use tool (a kind of fabric for making tutu's) and rig it up roughly to save weight. Its a good idea for a 2 oz bug net instead of a 7 oz one. I'm sure that durability is an issue but the fabric is like a dollar a yard.

I think whoopies are your best option. They are easy to adjust, light weight, and able to be set up quickly. If you intend to replace the stock suspension with whoopies (dynaglide or amsteel), it doesn't technically matter which original suspension you order, but you may get more use out of the pirated left-overs from the line/strap since amsteel has a million uses.
I have heard tale of gram weenies replacing the stock ridgeleine with zing it and all sorts of other mods to reduce weight on a Blackbird. Might be worth checking out.
The other thing to consider is that, at least from my perspective, the whole reason to reduce weight is to make yourself more comfortable on the trail. Yes, there is a sort of science and pride to be had in achieving an amazingly light pack weight, but at the end of the day it's all about comfort. My hiking budy uses a bivy and minimalist everything. I'm pretty sure his pack weight is less than mine, but I get a complete night's sleep and feel rested every morning. Guess who has more energy at the end of a hike?
YMMV, but when I'm out enjoying nature, I like to actually enjoy myself.

Organza is also excellent for this, and comes in many colors, (some 'stealthy' even) though a bit more than 1$/yd.

Figured I would update the "future" set-up and thank everyone for the great advice! Now I just need to sell my big agnes fly creek ul1 so I can afford a cuben tarp.
Hammock: Traveler single 1.1
Suspension: dynaglide whoopie slings, 6' tree huggers, dynaglide adjustable ridgeline, and the option of toggles or soft shackles for connecting everything.
Bugnet: Picked up a few yards of black tulle from joannes fabric and will stitch up a bugsock when my hammock finally comes.
I rigged some of the suspension stuff up to my backyard hammock to play around while I wait for the hammock to come. I ordered the traveler August 31st and can't wait til it arrives. Also ordered a te-wa breeze UQ with 1 ounce overfill.
The last item on the list which I cannot yet afford is the Z-packs cuben hammock tarp (no doors, I am not a four season camper) with some minor modifications. The total should be a VERY light 3-season set-up.

I'm 115lbs and use amsteel tree huggers w/ dutch biner to dynaglide whoppie slings attached to hammock.

Good choice on getting off the ground..I am in the process of tent to Hammock also. I am just stalled out due to lack of funds....nice gear is a lot $$.
The last couple of nights in the yard have made me lust after a nice UQ. The pad is really not cutting it. Hammock forums has more information than you can easily digest. Great community online Post pics-everyone loves Pics!
