    Fiberglass electricians fish rods. $9 - $11. for TEN pieces!!, each 13" or 39", depending on the kit. They're a little heavier than Clarks, but flex nicely. Brass fittings.

    Another source for similar to Clark is a kite shop.

    If anyone goes with the harbor freight poles I would love to see a pict installed and weight if possible.

    clark spreader bars

    OutandBack, How did you remove and reattach the metal sleeves from the rods? Will they come off with a hair dryer as a heat source? thanks dave

    There is no need to remove the metal piece from the shaft.
    Just cut the shaft with the metal at both ends to length and put a rubber foot on the raw end.
    Then cut one that has no metal and put a rubber foot on it. Poke them together and you have it.
