I had concerns with noise too. It really makes a racket when putting it together, but once it is between the hammock and undercover, all you get is a low key rustle-- like dry leaves. You get a soft rustle when you move around, but not as load as you would imagine. If you are really concerned with noise, I would at least use an AMK HeatSheet for the outer cover. You could use all AMK blankets, but they don't crumple as well as the cheapies. The AMK stuff is more durable too.
I'm thinking about trying some of that thin white foam used for shipping and experimenting with layering it with space blankets. That would add bulk when stowed, but reduce noise. It may have some positive thermal properties too. Kind of a poor man's IX.
