Looking to do some planning for a Michigan Hang. I am going to put a poll up with some different trips and see what people think. Last fall's hang was a great time and a great turn out, so don't hesitate to plan for one of these.

North Manitou Island Sept 16, 17, & 18

Ok I would rather do manistee than manitou but oct my be tough for me due to the fact that I just got my hammock 2 days ago and don't have the insulation needed for oct, I own a crazy ammount of backpacking gear due to my job (REI) its just that all of it is for sleeping on the ground, I really want to get in on a group hang though.
bmw rider, you got a very good position if you are in to any kind of DIY,
im sure you can get some good hookups on down bags, and there are awesome guides here you can cannibalize it and make a top quilt with one, a bottom quilt with another, and take a goretex bivvysac and use that as a barrier.
or something like that just a suggestion. ima try to do that with some synth bags i got. then work my way up to down when i gets all the goods.
or like other people have said, im sure someone wont mind throwing something extra your way for the duration if they have spares. but idk.
there will always be 100 reasons not to do something. the hard thing is finding the one reason To Do it.
I'm a Hammocker stuck in a tenter's body.....
i'd like to do the n.manitou sept 16-18 and as a back up go to either nordhouse or MRT if waves are too high
http://smartoutdoors.webs.com/ elephant trunks, tarp keys and crosses
We can always setup a back up plan for N. Manitou.
As far as not having enough stuff. I'm sure there is enough extra equipment to help you out there. I've loaned out my JRB No Sniveler to use as an UQ before. I wouldn't let that stop you.

Too many options. Pick one and go with it. I still have 3 more trips this summer that I'm working on with my friends. Some go, some cant. That is the way the cookie crumbles. You cant please everyone, and trying too is futile effort in futility.
I'd be up for the island with a back up on the MRT....I.m pretty open with the exception of Oct 1-9...
BMW, lots of extra gear floating around in the Michigan Party, I'm sure we could get you set-up with a UQ for the weekend.... Downsleeping bag would work as TQ...
I think the N. Manitou would be a fun trip and have the back-up of MRT. I'm looking to do something on Thanksgiving Weekend. So that was to get that out there too. I have a limited amount of weekends during the fall semester so......

I'm pretty excited, but voted for confused...jk.
I'll follow suit and say pick a day, a place and do it. It never works for everybody.
BMW, Theres plenty of gear to borrow. And theres plenty of time prior to Oct. to acquire gear and knowledge. Sleeping bags and a pad work fine.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
This is just preplanning. Really looking for feedback on destinations. But it looks like at least a majority is good with N. Manitou with the back up of MRT. We'll let it go a little bit, then I'll start an official hang thread.
