This past weekend I went on my first solo hang on a small little island on a local lake. I left Saturday afternoon with my gear and my canoe and drove to the wilderness lake area. It took about 45 minutes to paddle to the island that I had my eye on which is only about 75 yards long but fully covered in trees. I set up my hammock and spent the rest of the day relaxing and swimming and then sat by the fire until dark. My first night alone was a great success and I slept surprisingly well and enjoyed the quite time. In the morning I paddled back to the boat landing and picked up my wife and kids for night two. There was lots of swimming and relaxing as the weather was perfect the whole weekend and had a great campfire at night. My wife and daughter reluctantly sleep In a tent and My son and I slept comfortable in our hammocks. We all had a fantastic time together and I will be back for another solo on our island.
