I seldom pitched it like that, though, and I like fewer guy lines. I also wanted to be able to rotate it 90° for my right angle hammock and I needed center tieouts on the long sides, so I added the center tie-outs and removed the other two on each side (in the process of adding cat cuts to the edges).

So far, no problems with ridge line abrasion with CT0.6K.08, but I agree that the .08 laminate is mighty thin. The aluminized stuff I got is CT1K.18. I also got black CT1K.18, and the weight penalty isn't bad for these two: about .8 oz and .7 oz per square yard, respectively.
I would like to see that right angle hammock hanging underneath that cuben tarp. Sounds pretty neat! I suppose if the CT0.6K.08 is working ok with it then it should be fine for the even heavier stuff. Thanks WV.

Currently I am in love with my Superfly because of it's size and the doors.
However, a Cuben Fiber Tarp makes me drool uncontrollably.
The only way I would consider changing would be for a Cuben that has nearly the same dims as my Superfly.

That and the resale value of my Superfly, which will help offset the price. The increased cost for the additional width would not be quite as much of a deterrent in an upgrade situation.

Our "cottage industry vendors" are understandibly reluctant to make this jump without some indication of the size of the market.

I wonder how many others are "on the fence" about a Cuben upgrade for the same reasons? Maybe I am the only one but I don't think so.

Thanks to Raul's suggestion that cuben doesn't need cat cuts I just finished talking with Adam and we worked out that the final product will be 11' x 10' and no cat cuts. It will have 4 tie outs each side allowing the ends to come together as doors exactly like the Superfly. This design will give me the most protection in inclement weather being able to bring straight sides close to ground keeping out the winds.
I really appreciated Adam's input on this design and my needs. These "cottage industries" here at HF are a great resource and hopefully we can support them as much as possible.

Agreed...a SF-sized cuben tarp would be of interest to me as well...

    Shug

Shug, being quite tall, I would prefer to keep the Tarp closer to the ground than your pics and keep hang distance at my seat height.
Wish I could try one out at it's present size!

I prefer it that way myself as I like the option on the trail for a bugnet or not. Like you noticed in my video that I didn't have one that night, it was because it rained and I didn't need one. Those shelves sure are snazzy though.
