    Warbonnet double users chime in...

Hello, I was wondering what the double layered Warbonnet hammocks are set up as? Are the two layers seen together with a slot where you can insert a pad? Does the pad wedge in perfectly in the footbox?

    Thx!

The two layers are on the bottom half. The pad will fit between the layers and help keep the pad from moving. Check out Shug's WBBB video review and he shows it.

A pad definitely will slide into the footbox. However, I would suggest cutting you pad to 3/4 length (I used the measured length of base of my neck to the halfway down the back of my thigh). Then use the rest inside the hammock. This was recommended elsewhere in this forum. I found this very useful and the piece inside the hammock is easy too adjust as you move about during the night. Even works better if you put it right in the foot of you sleeping bag or quilt. I've switched from a 3/4 pad to an UQ, and still use that little foot piece inside the hammock.

    Just got WBBB 1.1 dbl

First hang in my new rig last night. I have a full length Thermarest & a 3/4 version. At first attempt I like the 3/4 version better. The full length one didn't seem to fit into the foot box quite like I thought it should. Other more experienced hangers can chime in. It is however easy to insert and position the pad in between the layers of the hammock. The 1.1 dbl sleep well for me last night! Provided a nice flat lay versus the HH hammocks I auditioned.
    Good luck!

The edges are sewn together in certain spots, but it's not completely sewn. If you watch some of the YouTube reviews, you can see that the double layer comes up to the zipper on the zipper side and about up to the footbox on the other. It's not the same as one hammock laying inside another.

Mine has 2 slots or openings on the zipper side. Imagine a long opening with a section sewn shut in the center. This makes sure the layers stay together properly while still giving ample access to insert a pad. The slots are inside when the zipper is closed, hence minor adjustments can be made without letting the bugs in. It's not really all that easy to do while laying in there but it can be done.

Here is a picture of a Wallyworld blue pad in my wifes 1.0 dbl BB. Its 24" wide and about 5 or 6 ft long. I also use one in my 1.7 dbl get minimal shifting in my BB with this pad. Have used it many a night.

Mine has two layers of fabric on the bottom and they are sewn completely together on the footbox side, and about eight-ten inches in the middle of the zipper side. That gives you two openings on the zipper side that you can slide your pad in between the two layers. I have an REI 1.5" self inflating pad and it fits in the footbox just fine, but to be honest I just don't like using a pad.
