    Bleah ~ Hammock 1 / Me 0

I've had my hammock for a couple of weeks now and have been taking it down and putting it back up every day or so in the back yard and then WAM! it bits me

I was laying in the hammock last night at about 11:00pm and I must of just dozed off when I'm wide awake on my butt with the tree's laughing at me. The knot I tied the whoopie sling to the d-ring failed so it wasn't a system failure just and idiot failure. Of course that was the highest I've ever tied the hammock a good two to two-&-half feet off the ground.

I'm going to go give those two tree's a good kick tonight when my tailbone stops hurting so much for laughing at me.

Had me one of those adventures a couple months back--made my sheet bends too short, and the fabric slipped through my whoopies. I was the only person there, and since I was laughing, I had to kick myself. You let those trees have a couple of swift ones from me .

Splicing the rope prevents knots slippage and sore tailbones.

Try a larks head to attach the whoopie to the D-ring.
Maybe a foam rubber under quilt would help too!

Luckily you weren't hurt! I have never had a sudden "drop" type fall. When I first started setting up my hammock I used a garda hitch. So a few times it wasn't set right and it slowly released and lowered me, plopping me gently on the ground leaving me scrambling to quickly fix it so no one sees, and hope no one saw lol!

Happened to me the first time I set mine up. I was using old ratchet straps and the webbing slipped through the eye of the hook. Lucky one a couple of the adults saw it at the Boy Scout camp out. Otherwise I would still be living it down.

Don't worry, tie a different knot and hang on!

Yea it was supposed to be a garda hitch but I'm thinking I probably didn't do something right. The other side held without a problem.

I wasn't comfortable with just a larks head on the d-ring but a garda isn't much more than that anyway. I'm already doing a larks head on the continual loop that's in the hammock channel it has the d-ring already attached. I'll try the larks head tonight on the whoppie sling side as well.

Absolutely Hilarious! Wait, for real, where do I get these?
