    Moon Pie's Poncho Pod

I got in my poncho and poncho liner today...I threaded the 550 cord through each end and attached the liner to the poncho via the gromets on the poncho and the attachment lines on the liner. I then attached them to my hammock. After laying in it for a few minutes I noticed that I could pull the poncho together and snap it closed...thus...Moon Pie's Poncho Pod...LOL..

Speaking for someone who has used the old military-issue poncho and poncho-liner sombination, the answer is yes and no. The liner is very breathable and comfortable, great to sleep with anywhere, really. The poncho itself, however, is not breathable at all. They're great to block wind with, though. Alex, great idea for an underquilt for little investment. I guess necessity really is the mother of invention.

Is it possible if you leave the head hole open, there would be enough air circulation to take care of condensation?

I am thinking so...I laid in it last night for about 30 minutes...the wind was kickin pretty good here and I could feel a very faint draft under me...the head hole was open and I contruibute that to the draft. I have to now find me some small dia. shock cord to make my quilt hangers from...I used plain ole bungie straps for this testing phase...Every thing I have for hammocking is DIY...I am currently using ring buckles I got from ACE hardware ($.97) and last week I got a set of Harbor Freight ratchet staps for the webbing($2.98 on sale with a coupon! lol)...I purchased the poncho and liner from Ebay (total for both $22.00) and the hammock is made from wallyworld polyester ($3.33). I got the 550 cord for my ring buckels from a friend who's former military so that cost me nada thang! I am thinking about purchasing another liner and doubling the insluation value...any thoughts?

and yep...necessity is the mother of all inventions....
