Another vote for MSR Ground Hogs. I think I've tried almost every imaginable type of stake but the Ground Hogs are the only ones I've found that consistently hold in any type of terrain. Although I've slightly bent a few over the years; you have to try really hard to do so. Gutter Nails work too, but the Ground Hogs are smaller and lighter.

For lighter duty where not as much "hold" is needed (for example, the pullout on my hammock), I use MSR Needle Stakes. They're smaller and lighter than the Ground Hogs but I've not had one bend yet when hammered into the earth.

I use Vargo Titanium Shepards Hook stakes and have had much success with them. I did paint the top of mine bright orange...they are hard to see on the ground, and therefore easy to lose.

I have the groundhog type and they work fine. I am now using either the Vargo Titanium stakes or the sheperd hook titanium from Lawson Equipment.

I just got some TI stakes from Papa Smurf that i can't wait to try out. They are replacing some stainless steel ones I've been using from my tent. Theses things are tiny and light

I have a few different stakes and go between them as I feel. I like my Groundhogs - they seem to hold everywhere - but am also a big fan of Lawson Equipments Ti-eye stakes he had a while back. I also paint mine blue since it seems to be the best colour to stand out especially in fall.

I use a mix of MSR Groundhogs and titanium shephard's hook.
