Ok so I have a question...

Assuming my pix are accessible now, you guys have seen how I hung my new homemade model.

I ended up having the straps attached really high on the trees, a fair amount of sag for comfort, and the bottom of the hammock not far off the ground. While this was really comfortable, I'm worried it won't be ideal once I put the thing under a good-sized tarp like the one I've been making.

How do I get a nice low hang like on Ed Speer's site? The hammocks in his "winter hanging" section are attached just a couple of feet off the ground, and slung almost horizontally.

I tried lowering the suspension on the trees, but this required tightening a fair amount to keep me off the ground, which in turn made the hammock really tight around my shoulders. NOT comfy.

    Suggestions?

Sounds like, to me, you are getting a lot of stretch somewhere?

Good question, blackbishop. Not sure how that works b/c I usually use a ridgeline. I'd ask Ed.
