    hangin the sb pro

hi folks i bought a sb pro about 2 mo. ago and slept in it almost every night. at first i hung it too tight couldn't lay flat and the sides came way up so i couldn't see out. after some experimenting i managed to get a flat lay and a decent view but i had to hang it really loose so much so that i was putting the straps almost as high as i could reach. its a really big hammock. i was wondering if maybe i should have gotten the smaller regular sb in stead?
have any of you had similar problems? can you advise?
    thnx pai

I used a ridge line on the outside of the moskito net. The length of my ridge line is 80% of the length of the hammock ( I did it so long ago that I can't remember what the actual length is. In fact I can't remember why I started typing in perenthesis ). The ridge line will keep the right sag in the hammock so you don't need to suspend 15' in the tree. You just need to find the right angle of your suspention so the ridge line is fairly relaxed.

I use a small cord tied to the ridge line to keep the net out of my face.

I would like to 'get a visual' on this setup... With the ridgeline you put on, the bug net hangs ALOT lower, yes? Just trying to imagine...

I have been curious to find out if these cool hammocks can be used with a single line to hold up the bugnet...

because the sag i need to get a good lay is so much i need to put the suspensions very high to keep it off the ground, i dont see how a ridgeline would help with this dont they just help you find the right hang easier?

I also added ridgeline to my SB but I ran mine under/through the bug net via holes made with hot paper clip. This eliminates additional suspension for net, keeps net out of my face and makes for better lay. I don't have any pics at this time but may be able to get some for you if you are interested.

That sounds like a really cool mod for that hammock...
I can pretty much imagine what's going on, but of course would ove to see a photo if you ever take one! Thanks for the info!

    [EDIT]

The bounty of the knowledge available on this forum, and my insatiable curiosity have yielded a thread / Instructions from Grizz on how he did a internal ridgeline on an GTSB...

I think this is just fantastic!

yea that's really slick, thanx for diggin that up. i think i'll do that but keep the ridge line outside and attach the net to it with the rubber twist ties i got.
i like to be able to drop the net from inside the hammock and let it lay on me with my head outside.

are all bug nets as air restrictive as the sbp net?

jakerock those to pics just confirmed what i suspected that i should of gotten the sb instead of the sbp. the sag in the sb(im guessing thats what it is) seems much less and it also looks like it would afford a better view.
i want to add a double layer to my sbp but i may buy a regulare sb and do it to that.
