Took 2 first timers in AZ

I took my dad (who has backpacked before, but was a tenter) and my father in law (first backpack trip) for a couple of nights on the rim in AZ. This was their first hammocking experience, and I think they enjoyed it. I borrowed my best good buddy's HH for my father in law. I'd never set it up before, and found that it was pretty easy to do, even the standard tarp that comes with it. It was nice that I guessed which end of the hammock was the foot end and got it up correctly the first time! My dad got to take the first ride in my new BB, and I used my old GT UL. We were cozy under the Noah's tarp. We had a little light drizzle and we all stayed dry, which is a bit of a surprise since I'd never used a tiny tarp like the HH std. All in all it was a great weekend with my dads. My dad did say that tenting has it's appeal- being that you don't have to be as organized: just throw your crap in the tent and sort through it later! If that's the only benefit, count me out!
The pic is of my dad napping in my BB.

Sounds like you had a good time. Great job introducing more to the hanging style!

Looks like a good trip. Would never get both my father and father-in-law out with me, that's for sure! And looks like we may have two more converts to the hammock movement.

Others, Haigler is awesome. you can start at the campground and go downstream to pick up your shuttle at the top of HellsGate after a few days.
Also, it's too bad I missed you up there Dante, we saw you guys filtering and didnt think it was you. I agree, going thru barbershop canyon was amazing. we'll have to hit the trail together, im looking into good areas right now (and thinking of some off trail stuff in the Bradshaws)

Wow, we missed the hail on Friday, we just had some drizzle most of the afternoon. It made the campfire starting trickier than usual. Can't go wrong finding a place off rim road for hanging.

For sure! I'm hitting Aravaipa in October with some buddies, but the permits are gone already and our group is full. If we have someone bail I'll look you up. I'm taking my wife to Sycamore Canyon by Flag this weekend. It will be her first backpack and hang as well. Looks like I won't get to ride in my BB again.
