OK so I got caught yesterday by the SO doing my first hang (& nap) in the new hammock when he came home from work unexpectedly early
oops.
After giving me a disapproving look, and making some comment about raising funds for the chiropractor's mortgage, he was about to walk off when our cuddly dog decided that she wasn't done napping on me in the hammock and proceeded to do her dead-weight limp-dog act to prevent me from getting out of the hammock. The dog then made this little whine that she has just for him (it has a pathetic quiver at the end) which made him stop, smile and actually walk over and look at the hammock.
I am instantly out of the hammock, and held it open for him. The dog is now sitting really pretty next to the hammock waiting to be invited back in. He doesn't get in and says something about how thin the material is, how thin the "rope" is, etc etc until our dog impatiently stamps her paws, sits pretty with an attitude and gives him a pathetic look. He then slowly gets in but doesn't quite get the laying diagonally concept and is still worried that the fabric is too thin and the "rope" (amsteel 7/64) won't support his weight (approx 185-lbs). I put the dog in with him and she instantly curls up, falls asleep and starts snoring
As he's still fidgeting in the hammock with a cuddly sleeping dog on his belly, I'm heading for the fridge, hoping that I would make it back in time with his favourite beer. No such luck as he almost falls trying to get out and pisses the dog off for interrupting her nap time again.
A half-hour later he tells me that I should remember to not leave it up because it'll be in the way of the yard work because he might nap in it!
Next step is get him to view it as a substitute for a tent. Wish me luck!
Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help I received on this forum. I'll post a pic of the partial setup (just have the basic suspension for now) when I figure out how to post the pic
