Here is a map for folks that are interested (especially those interested in road walking).

What has been referred to as the "Forest Access" road is King Hollow Trail Road.
What has been referred to as the "Water Service" road is Shea Road.

It is 1.3 miles from the trailhead parking lot to Shea Road via King Hollow Road. Turn right at the first dirt road on the right (Shea Road). It is .3 miles up Shea Road to Camp C - 1.6 miles total from the trailhead parking lot to Camp C using the roads.

Tendertoe, thanks for posting that. Its a great optiong and I'm sure it'll be of benefit to those who use it. If parking on forest road or the "water haul" shea rd, please consider calling the forest rangers. I know w1le has already contacted them and given the go ahead. It may be a good idea to call again specify parking on shea rd, the water service road. I have been ok'd to park on forest roads but I don't know if that would be the same for the water service roads.

Glad to hear you'll be making it out hammike!

When are you guys heading up?

Any of the other folks that chimed in still interested?

Exup and I were discussing changing locations - Camp C is the nearest location to the trailhead - easy in, easy out.

Unless anyone has any reason why we shouldn't do Camp C, I vote to stay here the entire weekend and day hike for those who wish to.

Moe-z and I will be there Friday early evening and will leave Monday morning.
We won't be staying Sunday night....and I'm all for Camp C since it is closer to the trailhead. I was starting to panic a bit about Camp D's distance. I'm ok with seperation...but want to make sure Dakota (my son) and I stay pretty close.

You guys can all sit back and enjoy the laughs as we struggle through our first hang on trees and first time getting tarps out of the package and hanging them, first time cooking on our little stoves, and fiddle farting our way through this. Might as well pick us out some trees and start arranging the seats according before we get there that evening. It could be quite a show. I would also strongly urge all of you to stay away from my throwing distance during the night, when it comes to my poncho liner UQ. That darn thing and I just aren't seeing eye to eye on our practice porch hangs. On the "great" side of things, at least we will be with others that know what they are doing and can correct and teach us.

C should be an ok place to be. much less challenging to get to the site than D. I'm sure there are plenty of trees around. My tv crapped out and as luck would have it, the repairman is coming friday, so if I don't make it Friday afternoon, I will definitely be there Saturday early and possibly Sunday night. In any case, I plan on 2 nights. This will be my first outing in 9 years so forgive me if I am a bit rusty.

I'm going to try and make it Saturday night. I sprained my foot on my last hike so that will be the determining factor for me. Hopefully I'll be healed up by then.
