    Permethrin on hammock material?

I read some advice to possibly soak your hammock material in permethrin insect spray and let it dry. Does this irritate the skin, even when it is dry? I work for a wholesaler and know it can be irritating on the hands so I'm concerned about this. Have you tried it before.

Once it's dry, not a problem.

If you do a search for "permethrin", you'll still be reading this time next week.

I suppose it depends on the person. I soak everything in a 10% solution, except the tarp at the beginning of summer or late spring. I spray or soak all of the clothes, bandana's and shoes that I wear for hiking several times throughout the summer. Never had a reaction and "knock on wood" I've never found a tic on me either.

10%, not 0.5%? WhoooHooo! That ought to kill those blood suckers!

Definitely treat your hammock with permethrin! Just use that rubbery kitchen gloves.

I just bought some permathin and waitin for it to arrive. Now when you say soak are you actually filling up a bucket of diluted mixture or are you saying spraying it on heavy full strength?

Pants, boots, hammock and shirts ... oh and hats. Use Sawyer's spray on ... treat in spring, might treat in August depending on how much I get out in the piney woods ... and to date since I've been doing this ... zero tick count. AND THAT'S IN NC ... Tick capital of the world.

Add me in MS to the zero tick( and every other bug)count. I never even see a mossy, especially with the quite pleasant Picaridin sprayed on my skin.

I just spray, works just fine. But I bet soaking would be even more effective. I guess it's hard to be more effective than 100%, which spraying has been for me. But maybe it will last longer?
