    Hanging at Lake Ethel

Did a short overnight hang at Lake Ethel in the Cascades of Washington a few weeks ago. Weather has been crazy up here this year, snow has lingered much longer than years past. Bugs are pretty insane right now also. A few pics:

If you are interested, I have a little bit more of a trip report here: http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7992961

Looks like a great looking area, the wet & cold I can handle as long as i'm warm & dry....shame about the blood loving insects.

I just read the Mountaineers book, Stevens Pass: The Story of Railroading and Recreation in the North Cascades by Joann Roe. ( see http://books.google.com/books?id=IDQ...page&q&f=false for the Google books version). The Nason Creek valley has some interesting parts in the local history.

    See http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/lake-ethel for trail info.

Is that a Cascade Mountain Shih Tzhu you have there?

That is indeed a Cascade Mountain Shih Tzhu, and he has seen lots of the mountains. He has been to Thunder Mtn. Lakes, Entiat Meadows, etc. Loves to go with me although the heat wrecks him when his hair has not been cut up to summer lengths.
