I ordered one for the boy to use. I will let you know how it works out.
Lack of preparation on your part does not constitue an emergency on mine.

Not sure who said it ...but I like it

    The tarp arrived yesterday...

First impressions are good, workmanship and quality is what you would expect from Grand Trunk.

I only have a Kelty 12x12 to compare it to but it seems to be made equally well, the sewing is a bit irregular in places, my guess is that these are probably factory seconds. I like the dark navy color.

All the sewn pieces are tape seam sealed and it has a lot of tie downs, there is a total of 6 tie downs on each side and a single one on top in the middle.

I just wish it had two more at the very top that would allow you to pitch it as an A-Frame or in Winter mode. I may add those later myself.

Definitely a worthwhile investment for $29.95.

Here are a few pictures of the package and its content:

Made it to the park today to pitch the tarp for its inaugural spread, here are a few pics:

Overall it is a nice tarp with lots of potential, I don't think I could have made a similar one myself for under $30.00.

You can check out the larger pics in this album: FYI -- Grand Trunk Funky Forest Tarp

Wow. I have the Funky Forest Tarp and that's cheap.

As a note to those who are buying - Be careful of the loops under the ridgeline - water collects on them and drips.

    Other than that, great tarp!

I set mine up as well. It's for sure worth the 30 bucks I paid for it and I think it will do fine as a starter tarp.

these must be an earlier production model before they added the inside loops, the one I got doesn't have any loops on the inside, which could be a blessing ... checked all the sewn strips and they all seemed to be tightly seam sealed... will have to give it the garden hose test to see if it leaks...

Coupon code for free shipping is BH788...it saved me $7.99 and hope it works for whoever else too. I can't make them for that price, so I ordered 2 and will hope for the best.

I bought a couple of these and took them to Lake Lila, NY, for a hang last week. Upstate NY gave us sufficient weather to test the Funky Forest Tarp. The tarp held up well in a light rain that lasted five or six hours. In wind, I found that two tie-outs weren't really sufficient to keep the tarp in place so it was nice to have the eight additional tie outs.

The only real complaint I have about the tarp is also the reason I bought it: it has a 14' ridgeline. I have a Byer Moskito Hammock that needs 11 or 12 ft. to hang properly. Add the whoopie slings and I need a 14' tarp to keep water out.

So in reality, I found I need to find two trees a minimum of 16 ft. apart to hang the tarp properly in the diamond configuration, with room to tension it. I'm going to experiment with an asymmetrical hang (using the first tie-out next to the diamond tie-out config) to see if I can shorten up the hang. That might not give sufficient coverage to my whoopies and hammock.

If you had a hammock with a shorter ridgeline, you probably have more options for hanging the tarp either on the 10' length, or somewhere in between the 10' and the 14' diamond config.

I assume "10 x 10" is measured from corner to corner.
Can someone give a measurement from center point of side to center point of opposite side.
In other words what is the length of the ridgeline if it was hung A fram instead of as a diamond.
