There are several possibilities for that. One is folks who fail to keep their email addresses updated on HF, etc. Notices go to old addresses. It happens. Or, they have typos in their addresses. ALWAYS run a test to double-check.

Another is that your own email server (Yahoo, Earthlink, Comcast, etc) thinks the email is spam and never forwards it to you. Check your defaults and settings with your ISP.

Another is that someone is "spoofing" a Hammock Forum address while sending spam, so HF gets put on a "black list" that your ISP uses, so all HF is blocked by your ISP. Usually this is temporary.

Another is that it gets to your computer, but your own email software thinks it's spam, and sends it straight to your junk mail or trash folder, and never tells you. Thus, it's on your hard drive, but in the "wrong" folder. I see that happen a lot with various kinds of email, when I help people who claim they never got this or that email (from a listserv I help moderate).

Most of the above are good reasons for HF to send out a series of expiration warnings, not just a single one immediately before the cut-off date.

I think a PM a month or couple of weeks prior would be sufficient.

Notifications are always via email, not PM.

My subscription expires on the 15th of next month. I will keep a lookout for a notification email.

In my case, I receive PM notifications and subscribed thread update notifications with regularity. So my email address is correctly set on the system and the rest of the spam related issues you mentioned don't apply in my case. I also check my junk folders every few days just to make sure I haven't missed any emails. I am on the forum a couple of times a day so I would catch PMs when logging in.

    Cheers

If you go to UserCP in the header, then click on "Paid Subcriptions" in the lower left of the screen, you will see the date you last subscribed near the top.

I never got ANY notification on the expiration.

The only email I got was when another member tried to PM me. I then got an email saying that someone tried to PM me but my inbox was 100% full.

Since I got the email about the full PM inbox, I know I've got my email address set up correctly.

The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.

My experience was similar. I receive thread update emails daily so I know my email is set up, yet I have never received a subscription notification and been dropped twice over the years in spite of having donated enough for several years at minimum.

I joined this forum the month it opened and began donating as soon as it was an option. I have never received any notification about pending expirations.

ZQ here...I just tried to send a PM to someone that send us a PM last night and received this message.... "___ has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space." My guess...he doesn't know that his subscription has expired.
