Took my son and his buddy for a weekend hike along the New England Scenic trail, also known as the Metacomet-Monadnock trail. We did sections 18 and 19 from Mt. Grace in Warwick, MA to Rhododendron State Park near Fitzwilliam, NH in two days. These sections are in the Berkshire Mountains, it's pretty country and the trail is very well blazed. The MM trail runs from central CT up to Mt. Monadnock, NH 114 miles in all.
Stayed overnight at the Tully Lake shelter near Royalston Falls. At the shelter we ran into a few hikers who were all keen on my new WBBB setup. I'm sure I made at least a couple of converts to hanging. Water is not plentiful in section 18 but there's one fast running stream. We didn't see another soul along the way except at the shelter.
