    New to camping, hanging first

    Hello,

Thanks for the place to read about hammocks and enabling me to become informed over the past few weeks and to make related informed purchases.

I started hiking about two years ago. And then last year I had a great snowshoe experience in the Maine Huts and Trails system. This year, it's time to sleep in the woods.

Sometimes I research to the point of inaction ....but I now have a Warbonnet Blackbird dbl 1.1 ordered and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

After months of research and deliberation, I've decided to become a hammock dweller immediately as opposed to starting on the ground, thanks to this forum and its wealth of information.

I got hung up on a few issues (Leave No Trace, warmth, accessories, etc.) before settling on a hammock camping style. It's great to have a spot to read about such things and I cannot wait to start dangling from trees in remote places with a view !!

    See you out there,
    Chris

Welcome Chris! IMO you're not missing anything about ground dwelling. As long as tree are a plenty you'll be comfy.

Welcome Aboard from Florida. Everything you need to know about hammocks is right here. Enjoy the fun. We've been reverse snowbirds to Maine for the past few years but were unable to go this year, sure have missed it.

Welcome to the forum. I converted from being a groundling to an informed hanger in January. I found this forum and quickly determined that I had made the correct decision. I switched my HH over to whoopie slings and have already converted 3 others to whoopie slings. It's a great group of people here.
