    Tarp Guyline Length ?

    Hi,

Before I start measuring and cutting line to attach to my tarp, what is the general consensus for these guy line lengths:

    1.) corners
    2.) ridge
    3.) side panels

If it matters, I have the Warbonnet Mamajamba with panel pulls and door kit.

    Thank you

I use 6' on the corners. Seems a bit long sometimes, but there have been plenty of times that I have appreciated that length depending on soil as well as other obstacles.

For the ridgline, I use a 25' line and have a continuous ridgeline. Same as above. Seems a bit long but I have used within 1' of the end a couple times. BTW, I use dutch clips with dutch bone.

I do not have the other tightout that you mention.

I use 4' to 5' on corners plus some extra line I hook up for porch mode.
My ridge is 10' off the d-rings
    Side....10'ish....with line or shock cord.

    corners - 6 feet
ridgeline - 12 feet off each, no need for a continuous ridgeline
panel pulls - shockcord, long, 12-15 feet, its up to you

Also, I'd recommend putting LineLoc3s on each tie out location. They make setup very easy and quick.

I go extra long, because my hang spots aren't always great, and I love porch mode.

So I'm 10' at all corners, and 25' on the (continuous) ridgeline.

On my Superfly I use a 25' ish crl, which I had to extend once when I hung from a 6' diameter tree. 6' side ties, 4' shock on doors/corners. I haven't rigged anything for my panel pulls yet.

I use 12' off each end for the RL since I have not been using a continuous RL lately. For a continuous RL I use 30'. Corners are 8 feet so I can use poles for porch mode. Don't have any panel pull outs on any of my present tarps but when I had them I used 10 ' for them.

I use 15' on the end of each of my tarps,,and don't use a continuous ridgeline, but, on each of my hammocks, that have whoopie slings on each end,,I have a prussic loop with a small s-biner to clip it to the tarp lines going to the trees just in case of a big windy stormish nite. kinda keeps the tarp and hammock closer if I am in a whipping wind of sorts and I like the shielding effects it gives me. 6' on all lines at the bottoms of tarp tie downs with line tensioners and shock chord on each for alittle give. I carry alittle extra just in case I need more. knot bones for attaching tarps to trees.

Now that you are thoroughly confused.... I use different one's at different times. If it was me I'd use 25 ft for a CRL. Then use anything handy to pitch the tarp in porch mode as high as I need to walk under. When you are happy with your setup measure the cords. Drop the sides and check the tie outs. There are a lot of variables so everybody is a bit different. It's easier to shorten than lengthen. ;-)

I like to tie a couple of corners to trees or bushes. For that reason I tie a permanent loop in one end of each corner rope so I can larkshead it through the tarp loop then knot as needed. I also carry a couple of extra 10 ft one's that can be used as an extension as required. YMMV
